Hi, my name is Andrew and I am
an English guy, originally from London who has been living
in Toulouse, in the south-west of France for about 15 years
now. I won't bore you with too much of what I like and all
that stuff but here is a bit about why I am into Angela
Carter so much... I originally did a Bachelor of Arts Combined
Honours Degree at the University of London (Queen
Mary and Westfield College), then a Masters Degree at
the University
of Toulouse-Le Mirail, translating and linguistically
analysing 'The Kitchen Child'. Then, I went on to do a post-graduate
degree (Diplome d'Etudes Approfondies, or MPhil equivalent)
on Carter's "The Bloody Chamber" (Feminist Palimpsest),
and started out on a doctoral thesis by remote location
at the University of Sheffield in the UK (Carter used to
teach there herself) on the intertextual sources in her
writing with application of the theories of Roland Barthes
regarding writing and authorship under the supervision of
Dr
Rachel Falconer. In 2005 I transferred to the
University of Middlesex in order to work under the supervision
of
Dr. Merja Makinen. |

I have a full-time position at the Institut Supérieur
Européen de Gestion (ISEG
- The Graduate Business School of Toulouse) where I teach
English, Communication Techniques and Negotiating. I am
a local examiner for the Franco-British Chamber of Commerce
and Industry and am the co-author of a grammar exercise
book which was brought out in 1996, with Dr Henri le Prieult
(Linguistics Lecturer, University of Toulouse) entitled
Grammaire Progressive de l'anglais published with
Belin (ISBN 2701122171 and 2701115213). I am currently
working on another project with a colleague at the University
of Political Science (IEP)
for a book intended for university-level learners of English
and preparation for oral examinations. The first
five in a series of 15 have been published by a local
Toulouse publishing house, Cépaduès.
Anyway, that's enough of the boring stuff about me...So,
listen if you really want to get in touch with me, if
you want to ask anything about Carter or if you have anything
about her that you want to say, or you just love her writing
then you can contact me by clicking on the following icon
